Dan McLaren

Dan McLaren is the President of the Commonwealth Group of Companies. He has been in the financial services field for over 30-years. In addition to leading Commonwealth’s financial services division, Dan has also played a leadership role in guiding Commonwealth’s various urban redevelopment initiatives including the development of the province’s Wood Innovation and Design Centre, The Commonwealth Health Centre and Elizabeth Fry Place in Prince George.

Dan has been active on many corporate and philanthropic boards including: The BC Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of BC, The BC Railway Company, the Fraser-Fort George Regional Museum, the Rocky Mountain Ranger Regimental Association and Northern BC’s largest charity golf tournament, the Commonwealth Cup. In 2019 Dan agreed to join the Board of the Quadra Education Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to providing scholarships to deserving young Canadians.

Dan received his commission in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1986. In 1990, Dan was made a Senator and Life Member of Junior Chamber International. In 2008 Dan’s business and philanthropic work was recognized when he was knighted into the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller.

Dan is married to Roberta (nee Lang). They love to travel and spend time at their lake house.
